Mesut Ozil confident on his performance under Arsene Wenger

Germany midfielder Mesut Ozil has claimed that he is confident that Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger will make him a much better player.

The club record signing has struggled for form in the last 12 months, while his latest injury will not see him back in action until the start of 2015. Ozil has been heavily criticised for his inconsistent displays and his lack of desire to help out the defence. Signed for a cost of £ 42.5 million from Real Madrid in the summer of 2013, Ozil says that Wenger has complete trust in him and this in turn will help him develop his game in the future.

Ozil was part of the Arsenal team that finally broke the trophy drought with the FA Cup title in the summer. Even though it looks highly unlikely that they will be in the mix for the Premier League title this season, Ozil says that he wants to continue winning trophies. At 26 years of age, Ozil is in the prime of his career with his best years ahead of him. He says that he has been in football long enough to understand that the criticism about form is never constant. Arsenal will be returning to league action with a home match against Manchester United this weekend.

“He (Wenger) knows what he wants and I know he can bring me a step forward; he trusts me in that way and I trust him, completely. For a team, it (a trophy) is the biggest thing to get and we got it (last season with the FA Cup), but as a player, there are other things - being the best player in the world, other cups, the Champions League. For now, I am not making any plans for after my career. I am just really happy to be here. You can play well one day and badly the next. I'm used to it,” said Ozil.
