Arsenal Ready to Win the Big Games, Says Arsene Wenger

Arsenal have been one of the best teams in the Premier League this season largely because of their consistency.

It has not been a hallmark of the club over the last decade, as it has been one of the primary reasons for their inability to win league titles. As the club enter into November, they still remain in with a chance to win the title this season. Arsene Wenger has always been positive about his club’s chances and he has once again maintained the same just ahead of the game with Tottenham. Spurs are the visitors to the Emirates stadium this weekend.

In the past, Arsenal may have fumbled in the big matches but Wenger reckons that times have changed. A spectacular 3-0 win over Chelsea seemed to show that Arsenal have finally matured when it comes to dealing with big opponents. However, the club has faced only two top teams – Liverpool and Chelsea – so far this league campaign and they have come out with a win and a defeat.

The upcoming match against Spurs will be a great test of Arsenal and their title credentials. Wenger has admitted his players face much bigger tests in the coming weeks with the likes of Spurs and Manchester United being opponents in back-to-back matches.

“We’re going into a period when we will be playing big games. And we want to win big games. I am convinced that we are better equipped [to deal with big games] but we also want to show it with our performances on the pitch. Also with the effectiveness of our performances on the pitch, and that means with points. This is more than the derby. We’re in a strong position in the league but we want to strengthen overall, as do Tottenham. Be it Spurs or anyone else, we want to win our home games,” said Wenger.
